Research and development
Officine Rigamonti has an internal laboratory for the control and testing of own products. Tests are carried out on newly designed products in order to optimise the sturdiness and fluid dynamics.
Furthermore, the various manufacturing processes are monitored in order to verify the preservation of the required standards. The testing equipment has been designed and built for testing pursuant to the specific regulations in force on the basis of various products.
The measuring instruments are periodically tested and calibrated using SIT certified comparative instruments.
Our laboratory is equipped with specifically designed test benches based on the tests to which the valves and fittings are subjected.
The main tests carried out are the following:
Tests under pressure and static vacuum tests
These tests are used to verify the pressure resistance using the PN (nominal pressure) of the valves or fittings as a reference.
Low pressure tests at 5 mBar, high pressure tests up to 70 Bar.
Vacuum tests are performed on fittings for PE pipes in order to verify the hermetic seal from the outside.

Pressure flow and loss tests
The test bench for pressure flow and head loss is measured to record the data relevant to all of our products, such as pressure reducing valves, strainers, manifolds, safety valves, etc.

Pressure and temperature test
The pressure/temperature test equipment simulates the stress that the valves, mainly those for heating systems, must endure during operation.Static and dynamic tests can be performed with opening/closing operation cycles and hot/cold temperature cycles.
These machines can perform tests with temperatures up to 130°C and a fluid circulation pressure up to 25 bar.

Wear and tear tests
We reproduce the factors that lead to the wear and tear of materials in the laboratory with the machinery designated for wear and tear testing.
The sample valves undergo the tests required by the regulations that allow, within a relatively short amount of time, to determine the conditions of the valves over the years.
The main tests performed in our laboratory are: ageing of plastic material by means of immersion into heated liquid; simulation of operation in a continuous cycle, with hot or cold water, scheduling of opening and closing cycles at various pressure ranges.

Static, dynamic traction and bending tests
The machines utilised for traction and bending tests verify the sturdiness of the material and connections between the various materials. We perform static and dynamic traction tests on fittings for PE piping and traction and bending tests of the pipe couplers and threaded connections.
